    Hi all,

laying my personal project aside for a moment I started working on a city map of Korth. 3D work as I canīt let it go... Iīve got the basics down in Blender starting to flesh it out a bit. This is a fast mockup in PS where it is headed.

Are you using cycles or internal? One thing that would make this much better I think is if you use a very large plane as your light source, unless your going for a dusk kinda feel that is. Have you tried using cycles volumetrics for the ocean? If you can get it to work right it could really give the ocean a realistic look. Iv'e played with the idea of using blender to do a city map but the amount of work needed to model every building, special buildings, texturing, materials, and everything else. I gave up after two days work on a palace, I get so caught up in the details that amount of progress I make is not worth the time. In the future I may try again but I like what you have so far.

Itīs rendered with cycles. I donīt want to go crazy on detail and material creation as I want to keep down the time. At that time I was in about 20 hours. I tried an area light but the harsh shadows created a popping effect looking down from above. Area light would be better for a real perspective, you are right. Once Iīm done I will send this over to vue and do a render, but just as a short experiment

Those buildings are very low poly but it adds up pretty quick. Blender doesnīt have any large scene management I know of. But give it a try, itīs fun and a bit of meditation.

I feel like within the blocks, the buildings seem very crowded, and the surrounding streets seem too large by comparison
