Welcome!
The Cartographers Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateursall are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.
Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.
If this is your first visit, be sure to check out the FAQ. You will have to register before you can post or view full size images in the forums.
Thanks for the REP GP, glad you like the map!
Thanks for the rep. The Torii used in that are the one's you gave to the community here. Thanks for those by the way.
Thanks so much for the rep!
Some of the requirements haven't been worked out fully yet, like the size requirements. They are all going to be compiled together at the end into one big map. Robbie made a map as an outline of the landmass. Were dividing it up into territories/countries based on the number of entrants that we have. The length of time will probably be the full month of April. Earliest completion would be April 20th, which is the actual 10th anniversary. We're trying to get it all going in the next few days. Hopefully as soon as we can. I'll add your name to the list.
Hey GP - were you wanting to get in on the 10th anniversary map challenge? No prize but I thought I'd ask.
Happy Birthday Gameprinter!
Thanks! I find that Hasbro lawyers are usually a pretty solid stick to use in these settings
No rights granted from me. Can you send me the link?
GamerPrinter, I sincerely hope you did not take offence at my comment about your map on Xalendi's map thread. Perhaps I phrased my critique too bluntly, and if so, I apologise. I have posted a reply in that thread, explaining my views in more detail. I am always happy to discuss aspects of urban form and history, and its role in fantasy city mapping, and am happy to debate you about this in a friendly manner. Cheers, THW (PS: hope you don't mind me posting this here; your PM inbox is full)
